Aizpea Mines

Iron mining has played a very important part in the history of Gipuzkoa. The landscape of the Zerain area, in particular, has been marked by the local iron and coal mines.

This is one of the Basque towns that has best preserved its traditional rural environment and the area is now a real natural treasure. At the Aizpea mines, better known as "Iron Mountain", you can learn more about the ironworks and visit a mine gallery.
