Zumalakarregi museum

Ormaiztegi is the setting for the Zumalakarregi Museum, a journey back to the Basque Country of the 19th century, a period of enormous social, cultural, economic and political upheaval.

The exhibition shows us how Basque society evolved in response to these changes, revealing the main causes, keys and consequences of the Carlist wars. The Museum is located in a typical 17th century Basque farmhouse in Ormaiztegi going by the name of Iriarte Erdikoa, home of the Zumalakarregi family.
