San Antón
San Antón is one of the most important look-out points in the Basque Country. It offers magnificent views of the Basque coast, all the way from Cape Higer to Cape Matxitxako.
From here, you can see the mouths of all the seaports in Gipuzkoa, as well as those in the easternmost part of Bizkaia (Biscay). The complex on Mount San Antón consists of two look-out stations, one on the summit of the hill and the other on the rocky outcrop at the northern end. Today, you can still see a twentieth-century look-out hut—popularly known as Katxapo—and a small cylindrical watch tower, one at each of the vantage points.
