Victoria Eugenia Theatre
In 1893 Queen Maria Cristina and her royal entourage began to summer in San Sebastian, making the city the resort of choice for royalty.
As a result, a number of elegant French-style buildings were constructed and San Sebastian boasted its own Belle Epoque architecture. The most spectacular buildings are the Victoria Eugenia theatre, the Maria Cristina hotel, the town hall and La Perla spa. Today the Victoria Eugenia theatre opens its doors to some of the city's most important cultural events, including the International Film Festival and numerous plays and concerts.
