The Peace Cross

The cross was carved from a piece of alabaster weighing 800 kg.

This sculpture was a gift made by Eduardo Chillida to the Buen Pastor Cathedral in 1997 in honour its hundredth anniversary. The cross was carved from a piece of alabaster weighing 800 kg. A curious anecdote: the artist authorized the piece to be sold if the church found itself in need of cash.
